I actually do not think it is a P- when I looked online at Ellis Island- they listed it as that name, I think they did their best to decipher.  I personally think it is a B or D?  My dad and aunts insist that he was from the Ukraine - he used to hang out at the Ukrainian club in Pittsburgh.   So maybe he just used Hungary, I know that my other grandparents used Austria, Hungary, Czechoslovakia on various forms.  So Hungary may not even be correct!  It is has been a puzzle.  In all honesty I am not really good at looking at these records, it also states that he had a sister with him but I didn't see that name on the list.

It may not be a P.  Try L or F

Are you sure that first letter is a "P"?

After the Rusyn Genealogy talk the other day I was able to find a record on family search.

The Record search has him listed as Hungarian and it has residence as Panoke.  I can't find this any where. He is listed on line 16- I can't not decipher the name of the village to save my life.

I was actually able to find this after years of research- could never find an immigration record ever.  But I was able to find out his year of death and approximate age, and from learning the Rusyn migration patterns, I knew he would have come at around age 16/17 out of Bremen into NY and boom here he is!  Says he had a sister on the file but didn't find her name.

Would love additional pairs of eyes and input from this forum.  Thanks! Jessica
