    John,

p.s., I have yet to find an Immigrant from our area who arrived anywhere except Ellis Island.

    p. p.s.   "Charles" was a name our immigrants often adopted instead of their given name of "Wasyl".

    Hello John,

I just spent an hour looking at various documents.

Here is whTopolyancsinat I can tell you.

I have never seen the name SANSKY in any records related to the Ulic' valley in Slovakia.   I can only guess that he changed his name somewhere along the way and he did not immigrate with that name.

    From what I read:

in the 1940 census he was MICHAEL PANSKY, 1324 Drinker St.

in 1917 Military Registration, he is MICHAEL SENSKI, age 29, 1917

When people used the term "Austria" or "austria-hungary, it could be anywhere in either Austria or Hungary.   In his case, it was Hungary.   But it was wartime and people were unsure what to write.

The name "Tubuji" Simply looks like a bad reading/writing of "Zboj", given by him with a heavy accent.

Unfortunately, the year of birth, either 1887 or 1888 are not in the microfilmed set of records.   I also check with the Satorulhelgy Hungary archives and it does not have those pages either.

in the 1930 Census he lists his birthplace as Czechoslovakia.  He states he immigrated in 1910 and Maria in 1912.   Very common.  It appears their first oldest child living at home, Julia was born in Dunmore in 1916.

Next question is to find out which country they were married in.  What name did Maria immigrate with.   You say she immigrated in 1910 with a daughter Helen.   This suggests they may have been married in Europe.   Have you checked the Ulicske Krive marriage records?  Presumably Helen had moved away by the 1930 census.

    That's all for now....

    p.s., I'm not a robot ;)

    John,

I have found a lot of information.   but FIRST, I am very confused between the father and mother's names.    Please give me the following information .  Approximate year is ok.

Your Father's full name & year of birth

John Sansky, June 15, 1920 (no middle name)

His father full name & year of birth

    Michael Sansky  1887

His mother's (maiden name)full name & year of birth

Maria Topolyancsin Sansky       December 8, 1888

She was born in Uličské Krivé.    Her father was Peter

Topolyancsin and her mother was Olena Kacsan.  Peter was a farmer.

His father's full name & year of birth  (redundant (??)

His mother's (maiden name)full name & year of birth (redundant??)

Please also explain where the name of SANSKY came into this family.

My paternal grandfather Michael and his brother Charles both went by that surname. I do not know anything more. I have alsolutley no  Austro Hungarian paperwork with their name.

I don't usually go this deep with other families.  However, your village neighbors mine and will have some connections.

    Thank you,

    John F Sansky

    Please look here

    http://www.iabsi.com/gen/public/settlements/villages_of_slovakia.htm

It's a list of village names at various periods of time.   You must look for them and all variations of them.

     Tubuji, Austria

This must be Zbuj which is Zboj, Slovakia today.  The transcriber just didn't take much care in their work.

Lot's of these people said they were from Austria-Hungary during that time.

But I need to see the family tree.   I'm very confused about who is related to whom.  I see some confusion between mother and father, and the use of the terms grand and great grand.  Please explain.
