    Hello,

The most recent records available at this point in time cover the years 1869-1878 births and 1873-1878 deaths.  I will provide the link below.  If you look through these baptisms, look for the father of the child as Basilius Brus and the mother as Polana Jankow.  The name Wasyl is often Americanized to Charles in the U.S.

These baptisms will give you an additional generation backwards in time.  with the House Number provided, you  might be able to continue the research in the earlier records which unfortunately have a large gap as well but it may work out for you.

    Hi Sharon,

Thank you for sharing your role in C-RS. And a very special thank you to you and your fellow researchers for sharing their expertise!! I have worked on my family tree for about eight years but have encountered some road blocks. Below is the info you requested. I copied the questions into Word and then pasted the responses back into the discussion form.  I hope it worked on your end.

What would you like to accomplish?

I recently found new information on my maternal grandfather Stephen Bruce who emigrated from Wolosate, Poland in 1913.  I learned that he had two older brothers, Frank and John and two older sisters (names unknown).  To the best of my knowledge, these four siblings remained in Poland. I would like to verify the accuracy of this information and to find out their dates of birth/death. Any additional information would be wonderful!

There was a younger brother, Hryc Brus (Harry Bruce), who arrived in the U.S. on December 26, 1908.

Also, I would like to find the dates of birth/death  of Stephen Bruce’s parents Charlie Bruce and Pauline Yonko.

    Hi,

Thank you very much for your great questions. My name is Sharon Pohanish Jarrow and I am on the board of  trustees of the Carpatho-Rusyn Society as well as President of the Eastern PA chapter. I was appointed by the board to work on a genealogy program. One of the first things done was the formation of the Forum. I have over 25 years of genealogy experience working on my ancestry. The Genealogy committee consists of 9 people of which 2 are licensed genealogists and the others have extensive research experience in there particular areas. We do not charge any fees . Our is to wish to help others in there research as we know only too well how frustrating it is to hit a brick wall. . We  are not acting as paid researchers and will assist with providing resources and tips in a persons research but not do the work a paid researcher would do.   Why I ask for further information with  questions is that our Rusyn research can get pretty complicated so we are finding information on the correct person. The Rusyn naming system doesn't make for easy research with all the repeats of Maria's, Olena's, Anna's, etc.  As for the query form I put it here and didn't realize it couldn't be copied and pasted. I need to work further on that. If you would like to, maybe you could add more info about surnames, etc. Then there is always the possibility that someone else is researching the same family and you connect with a cousin!!     Sharon

    Hello,

Thank you so much for responding  so very quickly to my inquiry concerning Stefan Bruce.  I appreciate your willingness to assist me.  However, I have never participated in a Forum, and I am not particularly up to date with my computer skills. So, I have a few questions before I complete the form for additional information that you requested. Here are my questions....

    1.  What is your role in c-rs?  Is Rusyn genealogy your hobby or is there a fee  attached to  your assistance?  Also, you mentioned a team of researchers.....who are these talented individuals?  Hobbiests? Paid staff?

    2.  How do I complete the form for additional info? Does it need to be copied and E Mailed? I wasn't able to fill it out within the Forum discussion submission.

    Thank you for your patience!

Hi and thanks for stopping by,

I am excited to see the Yonko name as my great aunt , Pauline Sztraskulic married a Harry Yonko.   I have not done research on the Yonko family and that part of Poland but work with a team of researchers who do. We need some time to  work on this. And we need more information to be as helpful as possible. I am attaching a query form that if you could fill out what ever you know would be great. Name and email not necessary unless you wish to give

    Specific information you are seeking

I am looking for information  (names and birth dates) concerning  my grandfather's siblings.  Stefan Bruce was born in 1898 to parents Charlie Bruce and Pauline Yonko in Wolosate ,Poland.  Wolosate was a Bojko village in the Bieszezady Mountains in today's southeast Poland.  In 1947,  Wolosate was one of the 273 places that disappeared during the Vistula Action.   Is there a way to locate this information?
