New York Chapter & New Jersey Chapter

From Mary Ellen Nusbaum: Bogdan Horbal, Curator for Slavic and East European Collections at the New York Public Library, hosted the New York and New Jersey chapters of C-RS on June 18th at the flagship Schwarzman Building on 42nd street, one of the library’s premier research buildings.

Dr. Horbal presented a history of the library itself as well as the history of the Slavic and East European Collections. The group was then given a tour, including entry to the historic Rose Main Reading Room and the Edna Barnes Salomon Room.

Lastly, Dr. Horbal presented numerous books about Carpatho-Rusyn history and culture. Time flew by browsing the materials which were appealing and engaging. All agreed that we could have spent much more time looking at the books. You can do it as well. The New York Public Library is open to all; all you need is a library card.
