"Ukraine Research- who, what, where and how"

Chris Babilya Black grew up in the Anthracite Region of Pennsylvania to Rusyn parents, Nicholas and Veronica Koroly (Karoly) Babilya. Chris' grandparents emigrated from what was then the Austrian/Hungarian Empire in the early 1900s. Their villages are now Domanyntsi and Bobovysche, Ukraine. Through her research she has been able to make contact with relatives in Ukraine who are helping to fill in the gaps in her brick wall. She has volunteered at a Family History Center where she has learned much to pass along to others in their quest to find their own family history. As well as being a C-RS member for many years, Chris is also a member of the Florida Genealogical Society of Tampa.

- We will talk about the different archives for research.
- Do I research on my own (in person or by writing? What information do I need if I write?
- How long a response time will there be?
- Do I hire someone to research for me? Questions to ask before hiring?
- What information may be available?

The Carpatho-Rusyn Society is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to manifesting Carpatho-Rusyn culture in the United States and supporting Rusyn culture in the Homeland in east central Europe. It works to educate Rusyns and non-Rusyns about Rusyn culture and history, and to support the development of Rusyn culture on both sides of the Atlantic. As a membership organization, it boasts over 1,800 members worldwide who support the organization's work through their annual contributions of dues as well as voluntary contributions to funds that support Rusyn cultural development abroad as well as humanitarian aid for Rusyn communities in Europe.
