Beyond Your Immediate Family: How Other Family Members and Friends Can Inform the Lives of Your Direct Ancestors

There is more to family research than your direct line. Join us as we discuss collateral research; looking beyond your immediate ancestors to find out about the rest of their family and friends. We will see how exploring those listed in birth announcements, obituaries, anniversary celebrations, and articles about family reunions, among other things, can lead you to family connections you never knew existed and expand your knowledge of your direct ancestors.

Taught by , Dr. Dolores Fidishun

Dr. Dolores Fidishun is a retired library faculty member from Penn State University. She taught genealogy at Penn State and has taught workshops for a number of community groups and senior centers in Pennsylvania. She has been researching her Carpatho-Rusyn ancestors for over 50 years and is happy to say she has followed those lines back to the 1700s.
