When Dr. Elena Boudovskaia visited villages in Zakarpats’ka Oblast’ to collect folktales, she was surprised to find that residents would drop everything they were doing to share their knowledge with her. Dr. Boudovskaia shared that same knowledge with C-RS members when she presented “Carpatho-Rusyn Folklore in Subcarpathian Ukraine: Witches, Wizards, and Wolves,” hosted by the Delaware Valley Chapter of C-RS and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church. In her talk, Dr. Boudovskaia played recordings of these folktales—allowing attendees to hear the voices connected to the stories.
